Sylvester Stallone has played many iconic characters throughout his career, and here’s which actors he would pick for recasting those parts. Stallone was a struggling actor before the success of 1976’s Rocky, which he also wrote. He was famously offered handsome sums of money to sell the screenplay so a more established star could play the titular role, but Stallone insisted only he could do it. Rocky remains arguably his most famous character, but he’s played several others too.
John Rambo debuted in the 1972 novel First Blood, and while everyone from Al Pacino to Steven McQueen was considered for the movie adaptation, Stallone was eventually hired.
